”Common Sense for Cannon County.”
Mitchell has served as County Commissioner for the Third District for 16 years and has served as Commission Chairman since 2019. He begain serving Cannon County as County Executive in 2022.
On having the opportunity to serve the first time around, Greg said "I would consider it an honor and privilege to serve Cannon County as County Executive," Mitchell said. "Our county has seen much growth over the past few years and we need to prepare for our future needs in many areas. I believe my years as Commissioner and a member of numerous committees through these 13 years has given me valuable experience in county government." And that is still true today.
"I strongly believe that there needs to be better working relationships between the County, the Town of Woodbury, & the City of Auburntown. We are a small county and all have worked together in the past for the betterment of the entire county, and that is a main problem that I will address. By working together, we can all make this county an even greater place to live."
Mitchell and his wife Nora have been married for 30 years and are the parents of three children, Ana, Monica, and Joe. They have six grandchildren, Journey, Milania, Adrina, Zane, Aria, and Rowland. Greg is the son of Joe and Sue Mitchell and has two brothers. The Mitchell family resides in the Woodland Community. He is employed by Woodbury Funeral Home and also serves as pastor of Center Hill Baptist Church. He was recently named as Interim Director of the Cannon County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition.
